Sleep and Dreams

Sleep and dreams have been studied since the beggining of recorded history. We spend roughly one third of our lifetimes sleeping. When we sleep and dreams occur our our central nervous system goes into an active state. Nobody is quite sure why it does this periodically during our sleep and dreams. Our body may simply be running a systems check, but again were not sure.


Physiological changes also occur periodically during sleep and dreams, so that our heart rate goes up, our breathing gets more rapid, our temperature increases and our brain waves change. Sleep and dreams have a variety of different effects on people other than the changes I just spoke of, such as muscle twitching, eye movement, sleep talking, and your central nervous system arousal.


Another aspect of what happens physically during sleep and dreams is sexual arousal. Men experience erection and women get more lubricated, so as you can see dreams do have a sexual component as well. sleep and dreams of course can only be accomplished if your able to fall asleep in the first place. Which just happens to be my problem. Sleep and dreams dont come to me because I can never get to sleep on my own. Unfortunately, I have to rely on a sleep aid. Fortunately there is a sleep aid called somnien that works wonders for me, so I'm able to enjoy sleep and dreams once again. I am even able to remember portions of my dreams and write them down for further study. Sleep and dreams are a very interesting subject, both scientificly as well as personally.
